To maintain a safe and efficient working pressure, the regulator—also known as an adjustable regulator, flowmeter, or control valve—reduces, regulates, and measures the oxygen flow to the patient. Typically, the flowmeter and regulator are combined into a single mechanical fitting on the oxygen tank. The regulator is secured in place by a yoke.
